Apple's Big iPhone Design Change Won't Come With The iPhone 17 Series This Year

The iPhone 17 series launching this year is going to look a lot like the current iPhone 16 models, which will surely disappoint anybody who may have expected big changes. The iPhone 17 launch will be one of the biggest events in the industry and Apple will hope to get people excited, make them spend money on their new products.
But reports say, the company is going to reserve the big design changes for the iPhones until the iPhone 19 model that will be rolling out in 2027. This will also be the 20th year since the iPhone was introduced back in 2007 by Apple’s Steve Jobs in front of a packed launch event.
The new design change delay also means that the iPhone 17 and the next year’s iPhone 18 models are unlikely to have any major changes in their designs.
iPhone 19 Big Design Change Coming: What To Expect
The Bloomberg report this week says Apple will have something special lined up with the iPhone 19 Pro variants. The company is expected to follow the design style envisioned by its former Chief designer, Jony Ive, with a sheet of glass to be the platform on which this model could be developed.
We could see some signs of these design upgrades with the rumoured iPhone 17 Air model this year but the actual transition will have to wait for another few years, the report adds. In fact, it seems Apple will only increase its focus on making sleek devices once the 17 Air is introduced, and the later models will adopt a similar style across the board.
Apple is also going to go big with a foldable iPhone model around the same time, which will be another major ambition for the company to enter and compete. The use of glass and an ultra-thin design will surely bring durability concerns but it looks like Apple has thought about those issues before giving the new change its approval.
iPhone 17 Launch In 2025: Does It Even Matter?
Yes, the iPhone 17 Air model is highly tipped to be a sleek device like the Galaxy S25 Edge which Samsung is expected to introduce next month. But the rest of the iPhone 17 series (including the Pros) are turning out to be all about hardware upgrades once again.
Apple is yet to crack the AI formula and the Siri delay till 2026 means people will probably wait it out for the new-looking iPhones or just buy the existing iPhone 16 or 15 versions that will cost much less than the upcoming models.
