Spotify Premium Users To Get Ads Between Music And Podcasts? Here’s What The Company Said

Spotify Premium is the best way to stop hearing the annoying ads between your favourite music but recently, many of its paid users complained about hearing ads even after getting the Premium version. Ads have become a nuisance across platforms, and some of the streaming apps even show you ads after you have taken their premium plans.

Will Spotify follow suit and make ads indispensable across its service? The good news is that Spotify has vehemently denied those plans, and suggested that any rumour about putting ads into premium are false. The company has officially shared its view via a post on X earlier this month:

Spotify also assures that Premium listening will remain ad-free but without including ‘always’ into its statement, the platform has left the door ajar for changes in the future. The fact that Spotify had to officially respond to those rumours tells you the value of social outrage, especially when an error resulted in its paid subscribers getting ads.

However, the platform can lay claim to bringing ads in the future versions, and say that other streaming apps also have an ad-tier model with ads available at a nominal monthly fee. We are hoping Spotify doesn’t bring this plan for its customers, which could eventually force people to jump ship.

YouTube is the other company that is pushing more people to go Premium but some of you say the money paid for YouTube gives you more benefits compared to Spotify. The music app is also taking years to launch its Hi-Fi premium plan that is supposed to offer lossless audio and maybe some AI features but at a higher price than the regular Spotify version.

It does not help that its rivals Apple and Amazon have managed to offer some of the premium features without charging the customers extra and that’s where Spotify seems to be struggling to make the higher fee worth their interest. Either way, we’ll keep an eye out for these changes, and if the platform does intend to change its business in the foreseeable future.
