YouTube is brings a new AI tool that can produce instrumental music for videos at no cost, enabling creators to evade copyright issues. Designed to make it simpler and more economical for creators to incorporate original background music into their videos, this feature is integrated into the platform’s Creator Music marketplace.

The new tool allows users to use AI to produce original instrumental backing music for their videos. It was showcased in a video on the company’s Creator Insider channel.

Lauren, the host, introduced a new tab called Music Assistant on the online video-sharing platform’s Creator Music beta section. The new AI feature allows you to provide prompts such as “Calm and peaceful music with acoustic guitar and flowing piano" or “Give me uplifting music for a workout montage."

Users can use Music Assistant to describe the kind of soundtrack they desire, including information about the instruments, mood, and content type, in a free-text area.

After that, the tool creates several tracks for you to review and download for your video. The commercial music licensing website Creator Music was established in 2023 to assist customers in locating music for their videos and comprehending the costs involved. AI music will, however, give individuals yet another cost-free option.

One of the various AI tools for creating music is Music Assistant. Other noteworthy examples are the open-source AudioCraft and MusicGen models from Meta, which can synthesise sounds and media in response to prompts, and the diffusion model from Stability AI, which generates background audio, as per Business Today.

Through features like a music remixer that enables users to “restyle" well-known songs for Shorts and Dream Track—powered by Lyria from Google’s DeepMind—the social media platform has also dabbled in AI music. The Music Assistant tool is expected to simplify music production for content creators as YouTube further incorporates AI into its creative ecosystem. It also provides a copyright-safe and easily accessible substitute for conventional stock music and licensing methods.
