YouTube Will Not Work Anymore If You Have These iPhones And iPads: Here’s Why

WhatsApp has lost support on a host of iPhone models recently and now YouTube is the next in line to stop working on some of the popular iPhones and iPads. The video streaming giant has updated its iOS or iPadOS app to version 20.22.1 which needs one of the latest iOS versions to run the platform. These changes are done regularly so that YouTube or WhatsApp can support the latest features and keep the app secure because of its all-round compatibility.
YouTube Stops Working: These iPhones Affected
YouTube has clearly defined the list of iPhones and iPad models that have stopped supporting the platform. Here are the models:
Basically any iPhone or iPad running on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, respectively, or earlier versions cannot run or update to the latest YouTube app with new features and security patches from the company.
So, just like WhatsApp, YouTube has decided to cut support for the outdated platforms and make sure that people have at least iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 version installed on their iPhones or iPads, which is not possible on the aforementioned devices. Ending support for these devices also allows YouTube to focus on the newer models and keep them updated with the latest patches to fix any possible security issues that puts the users at risk.
Having said that, YouTube will still work on these affected devices using the web version that is compatible with Chrome, Safari, Firefox and more web browsers. Granted, the experience will not be comparable with the native app but still at least lets you watch videos and enjoy the content on the popular platform.
However, for WhatsApp users, they don’t have a web-like option for the out-of-support devices and they will have no choice but to buy a new iPhone or latest Android phone to continue using the messaging app to chat with friends and more. Netflix is the other popular platform that recently stopped working on the first-gen Amazon Fire TV Stick devices.
