Perplexity Can Now Help You Create AI Videos On X: Here's How

Perplexity continues to make the headlines this week. The AI company is supposedly in Apple’s sights and could become a part of its AI push if it goes ahead with the deal. And now, the AI assistant is bringing new features for X users and that too free of cost. The company has its AI chatbot available across apps like X which is now letting them generate AI-powered videos with a simple prompt explaining what the video should offer. 

Perplexity Bot AI Videos On X: How It Works 

Perplexity bot goes by the name Ask Perplexity on X and you just have to tag the AI bot and share the prompt for the video you want the AI tool to generate. For instance, this user on X activated the AI bot and used the following prompt to get this video: 

Using this bot and tagging it in the post gives you an AI-generated 8-second video based on the text prompt you feed the bot. The company says the AI video tool is limited to text for now, but we expect image references to be compatible at a later date. The AI bot is quite effective with its videos but there are instances where the prompt content makes it tough for the AI bot to generate the video. 

It seems the AI bot is relying on models like Veo 3 or maybe Sora from OpenAI to generate videos on X. Interestingly, the Elon Musk-owned platform only lets you generate AI images so it is likely that Musk has allowed Google’s new AI video model to work through the platform via the Perplexity AI bot. 

The fact that you can only generate an 8-second video suggests the company could bring a premium version for the X users which most probably needs you to have X Premium or Premium+ subscription. Many users have tried out the AI bot videos for free and expect many more to use the feature. You cannot download these videos but they are shareable via links, direct messages or other apps.
