NASA Rocket Launch And Spacewalk Live Videos Will Soon Stream On Netflix

NASA is going to livestream all its mission launches and spacewalk on the big screen through Netflix starting later this year. The space agency and Netflix have joined hands to make these events available to a wider audience who don’t sign up for the NASA streaming platform. All Netflix users and plans will have access to the NASA content that will be offered ad-free.

Interestingly, NASA has its own website that offers all the content for free and without any ads. The Netflix deal will not affect this availability in any way and people will have multiple options to view the space content sitting in their living room.

NASA Launches On Netflix: Why Now?

NASA is quite honest about its efforts to expand the reach of its content and it is certain that Netflix will become an easy platform to tap into a global viewing audience. “Although the organisation has long experimented with social feeds, video, audio, and real-time events, the collaboration introduces the universe into one of the most recognised environments on earth: the living room, " NASA said in a statement.

NASA+ has been available since 2023 and it offers all the events and launches organised by the agency available to all viewers for free. NASA+ will most likely come to Netflix as a separate tab and easily searchable on the platform. You will be able to stream the live ISS views, missing footage and the latest mission launches in high-res quality.

Netflix plans in India start from Rs 149 for the mobile-only version, going up to Rs 649 for the 4K UHD tier that lets you access content on four screens.

Space exploration has become a lucrative business with the likes of SpaceX being at the forefront of these missions. You’ve also had a group of astronauts from countries like India going to the International Space Station (ISS) for various research studies. SpaceX is also in talks with the Indian government to launch Starlink satellite internet service that is rumoured to cost as much as Rs 4000 along with another Rs 30,000 for the equipment that runs the data network.
