Microsoft Outlook Faces Global Outage As Thousands Of Users Struggle With Email, App Services

Microsoft Outlook Down: Microsoft users across the US, India and other parts of the world struggled to access Outlook, Microsoft 365 and other services on Sunday morning (IST) due to a brief outage.
In a series of posts on X, Microsoft 365, which looks after Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint services, said, “We’ve identified a potential cause of impact and have reverted the suspected code to alleviate the impact."
“We’re reviewing available telemetry and customer-provided logs to understand the impact. We’ve confirmed this issue is impacting various Microsoft 365 services…Following our reversion of the problematic code change, we’ve monitored service telemetry and worked with previously impacted users to confirm that service is restored," the tech giant said.
According to DownDetector, which gives a real-time overview of issues and outages, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure were reportedly down at about 2 am (IST) on Sunday.
The platform logged more than 37,000 complaints about Outlook alone. Around 24,000 users faced issues with 365 services, while smaller numbers reported problems with Microsoft Teams and Azure.
In recent weeks, Microsoft Outlook users have reported difficulties accessing their accounts. The tech giant also faced significant global outages in 2023 and 2024, which took hours to resolve.
