Instagram Is Testing A New Way To Share Reels With Your Friends: All Details

Instagram Reels are shared and viewed widely across the globe and soon your ability to share these short form videos will get another layer. The platform is working on a new feature that will personalise the feed of Reels that you can share with friends. The new tool called Blend is being tested and is claimed to have been in development since March last year. These Reels will blend into your circle via the Instagram DMs.

Instagram Blend Reels Feature: What It Does

Reports say Instagram is testing the feature with a small group of users for now but Meta seems keen to give it a wider push, which explains the public-level tests for the unreleased tool. Having said that, Meta still doesn’t have a timeline for its actual roll out but we feel it could be months away from making an official bow. So, back to Blend, what is Instagram planning to do here and how do Reels feature in all of this?

Some users on Instagram have even got a pop-up which asks them to try out the Blend feature with their friends in DMs. The platform even gives them three options, where they can see each other’s suggested Reels, new reels based on their chats and invite-only reels.

Instagram clearly feels the need to push the viewership and reach of Reels, and this new upcoming feature feels very unique to Meta. We haven’t seen TikTok offer a tool like this, which makes it obvious that Instagram is trying new ways to get more users to try out Reels and help them make a personalised shared platform, something that apps like Spotify have offered but more music.

The news about this Reels feature comes a few weeks after it was reported that Instagram could bring a standalone apps for Reels. This means people will have to download another app just to watch the Reels and Meta could probably use that change to bring a whole new set of features to the TikTok-rivaling platform.
