Google Pixel 9a has launched in India this week as many rumours had suggested. The new mid-range Pixel model will be going up against the iPhone 16E that Apple introduced earlier this month. The Pixel 9a borrows its hardware from the flagship 9 series with the Tensor chipset spearheading the performance duties.
Google is also making some broad design changes to the Pixel 9a and added a dash of new colours this year. You also get a longer support for the Pixel 9a to align with the company’s recent strategy for all its Tensor-powered devices.

Google Pixel 9a launch price in India starts at Rs 49,999 for the base variant. The Pixel 9a goes on sale in the next few weeks.

The Pixel 9a is once again smaller than the Pixel 9 models with its 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display and gets up to 120Hz refresh rate. The screen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, and offers a peak brightness of up to 2700 nits. The new Pixel a-series model measures at 8.9mm in thickness and weighs 185 grams. And yes, the phone comes with IP68 rating like its premium versions.
Google is powering the device with its Tensor G4 chipset and 8GB RAM. You get 128GB and 256GB as the storage options for the model. The phone packs a 5100mAh battery that gets 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging speeds.
Google has also confirmed that the Pixel 9a will get 7 years of OS updates and patches along with the Pixel Drop updates. On the imaging front, you get a 48MP primary sensor with OIS + EIS and a 13MP Ultrawide lens at the back. The phone features a 13MP selfie shooter. This is a Dual SIM model where only one is a physical nano slot while the other supports an eSIM.
